Today’s movie of the day is Home for the Holidays (1995). Directed by Jodie Foster and starring Holly, Hunter, Anne Bancroft, Robert Downey Jr, Claire Danes, Dylan McDermott and Geraldine Chaplin.

It is about Claudia Larson (played by Holly Hunter), who recently got fired from her job and then takes a flight to Chicago to visit her family for Thanksgiving.

She decides to call one of her brothers during the flight to unburden herself on his answering machine of everything that has been going wrong for her. However, when she arrives back home, she is burdened with the chaos of her family and realizes that not everyone is planned out in life.

I watched this movie last year and have added it to my Thanksgiving movie watch list. It is one of those staple movies you must rewatch because of all the rushing and organizing of a holiday season. Watching something to take your mind off the season’s craziness is good.
