Movie of the day is 1980’s 9 to 5 directed by Colin Higgins.
It stars Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin and it about these three ladies working in a office with a very sexist boss. One day they get fed up by his remarks and start turning the tables against him.

Fun fact about this movie Dolly Parton first performed the theme song to this movie to Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin using her acrylic nails as the beat!

It also spur off a sitcom in the 80’s and last about two seasons. If you want to watch something humorous then I totally recommend this movie!

Today movie of the day is 1972’s Fritz the Cat directed by Ralph Bakshi. Considered to my the first X-rated cartoon in the United States proving that cartoons are not just meant for kids.

This is Ralph Bakshi’s first full length movie and one of my favorite movies
The movie was loosely based on Robert Crumb’s Fritz the Cat cartoon however Crumb and the filmmakers did not see eye to eye on the film’s content and Crumb is not a fan of the film.

However when the movie was released it became a wildly successful hit and led way for other mature humor cartoons.

“We’re not rated X for nothin, baby!”

Started in 1954 The Mego Corporation was know as toys you could find at a dime store, fun and in expensive. Then in the 1970’s then made a huge shift into the world superheros and created a line called “World’s Greatest Superheroes”
During that same decade they made celebrity dolls and one of there most popular toy lines: Micronauts. Which were these amazing toys with interchange parts and magnetic joints!

Sadly the company went bankrupt in 1982 and by 1983 the brand cease to exist. Anything from this brand is highly sought after and anything in mint condition and in a box is desirable collectible and could fetch up some major dough.
Here are some of my favorite toys and ads from this brand:

Bob’s Big boy you are this week’s MAN OF THE MOMENT!!

When I was little my parents used to take me to Bob’s Big Boy for breakfast. They enjoy the buffet style breakfast and I enjoy the complementary crayons and color by number table mat. But what mostly stood out in my mind was the restaurant’s mascot: Big Boy

Unfortunately they are no more Bob’s Big Boy restaurants in my area are long gone but my adoration for this cartoon guy in checker print overalls have never left my brain.

With his painted grin , rosy cheeks and flip hair and pudgy frame this little dude will forever be one of my favorite childhood idols.

CONGRATS BOB’S BIG BOY!
