“I love the fact that I can make people happy, in any form. Even if it’s just an hour of their lives, if I can make them feel lucky or make them feel good, or bring a smile to a sour face, that to me is worthwhile.” – Freddie Mercury (born September 5, 1946)

Music Video of the Day: November Rain
Today’s music video of the day is Guns N’ Roses’s November Rain (1992). This single was off there Use Your Illusion I album (September 1991).

I remember the first time I saw this video was in the summer of 1992 and I just discover that we had cable and very importantly that we had MTV (the early MTV was a staple in my growing up stage). I was about nine years old and I remember watching it in the morning because it had a lasting impression on me the rest of the day.

It was directed by Andy Morahan and the concept of the video was based on a short story by Del James called “Without You.” It is from his 1995 book “The Language of Fear and the plot of the story is about a rock star who is grief stricken over the death of his girlfriend committed suicide.

Axel Rose’s girlfriend at the time was supermodel Stephanie Seymour plays the role of the girlfriend and Axel Rose of course plays the role of the distraught rock star. Throughout this whole grief stricken scene Slash is intertwined in some out door shots playing the solos outside the church.

Also what breaks the continuity of this music video is the concert scenes of the band playing the song. The music video is over nine minutes long because they wanted to used the whole song and not cut anything out. It makes the video unique and you don’t feel the length of the music video because you are completely absorb with everything that is going on the screen.

“November Rain” is one of the most expensive videos ever made due to many factors such as the different locations, the costumes, the endless hours of taping and all the extras that were involved.
This music video went on to win Best Cinematography at the 1992 MTV Awards.

Man(sion) of the Moment: The Haunted Mansion
Hello everyone! This week’s man of the moment is actually a ride that is located at Disneyland, Magic Kingdown and Disneyland in Tokyo.
THE HAUNTED MANSION! (or better known as my FAVORITE RIDE EVER!!!) I will focus on the one that is located at the Magic Kingdom since that is the only one I have ever been too.

This ride first opened on October 1, 1971 the same day as the parked open and is located in Liberty Square nearby the hall of presidents.
I have been to Disneyworld 23 times and it is absolutely one of my favorite vacation destinations EVER! I have been on this ride about 40 times and my trip to the Magic Kingdom is not complete until I have gone on this ride at least twice!

Even waiting in line for this ride is entertaining! You come across a lot of tombstones that have funny sayings on them and the names of the people on the tombstones are Disney Imagineers who created the Haunted Mansion.

You also have head-busts talked to you and you have the option to play musical instruments!
Inside the house your are taken on a tour of all of the rooms and the spooky inhabits that live inside and how they met their spooky but sometimes funny end!

Haunted Mansion you may be haunted but you are the coolest house ever! You are this MAN(sion) of the moment!
Caution: after reading this you might or have may not have a ghost behind you!

Just kidding: Until next time!
Top five reads for September!
Hello all here are my top five picks for September! (ps: near the end of the month I will make a separate list for Banned Books Weeks. One of my favorite weeks EVER!)
- Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice ( 1976)- I first read this book when I was in third grade after the movie with the same title came out. Needless to say I had a huge obsession with Vampires. I like to revisit Rice’s vampire Chronicles every couple of years or so. The romance of her words mixed in with the Gothic theme is a great read for this month.

- The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G. Wells (1896)- Edward Prendick gets shipwreck and maroon on an island that happens to be inhabited by half man/ half beasts run by the evil but cunning Dr. Moreau.

- Cujo by Stephen King (1981)- after I finished reading the book about the history of rabies this book popped up on my mind to read next. A sweet dog is transformed into a savage killer when it gets bitten by a rabid bat and turns against his family,

- The Notebooks by Jean-Michel Basquiat Edited Larry Warsh (2015)- Jean- Michel Basquiat is one of my favorite artists. This book has a journal cover to replicate Basquiat’s actual notebooks and is jammed packed with his writings, thoughts, and of course drawings, and resurrects the life of this genius troubled artist.

- We Have always lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackon (1962)- this was Shirley Jackson’s last novel before her death in 1965. It centers around eighteen year old Mary Katherine Blackwood, her sister, and their uncle that live in an estate in Vermont. A tragic event happen six years prior from when we meet the central characters which cause the Blackwood family to be isolated from the rest of the residents of the town as well the the town’s endless gossip.

Until next time!
