Movie of the Day: Shock Treatment (1981)
Today’s movie of the day is 1981’s Shock Treatment directed by Jim Sharman. It stars Jessica Harper, Cliff De Young, and Richard O’ Brien.
This movie is a mixture of comedy, drama and musical tightly rolled into a 94 minute long movie.
It is about just married couple Janet Majors and Brad Majors who go to a live taping of a show done in Denton, Ohio. In fact the whole town is own by Fast Food King Farley Favors and since he owns the whole town he decided to movie the whole town of Denton, Ohio inside a studio and named it Denton Studios.

The town is divided into a couple of categories: audience members, the ones who get the own show, background cast and crew. While in the audience Brad and Janet are picked to go on a TV game called “Marriage Maze.” Unfortunately the prize is making Brad go to Dentonvale (a hum drum soap opera) prison which revolves around a mental hospital.
In the meanwhile Janet is slowly made into some kind of TV reality like superstar who is made over to sing and dance at a drop of Farley Flavors hat. Farley Favors is a schemer though because he wanted both Brad and Janet to come onto that show to break them apart.
The rest of the movie has a bit of twists and turns along the way but in the end Brad and Janet realized that they are meant to be together!
One of my favorite things about this movie is the amazing soundtrack! Compared to the other movie Richard O’ Brien wrote “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” I favor this soundtrack way more!
Below is one of my favorite songs from the movie soundtrack:
In no way is this movie a sequel to Rocky Horror Picture Show however there characters that are prominent in Shock Treatment that were in Rocky Horror.
Fun Fact: This movie was based on the concept of making fun of TV shows that were on the air during that time!

Wo(man) of the Moment!
Daria Morgendorffer you are the Wo(man) of the Moment!

If it wasn’t for your sarcasm and witty humor that my high school life would of been a complete bore!

I remember when MTV played a bunch of cool cartoons and Daria was on the top of my list of tv shows that I needed to sneak after I went to bed and watch without my parents knowing. I always admired Daria because she had a blunt way of saying things to people no matter what relation she had to them. Like her best friend, her sister and even her parents!
Even though she seemed like an outcast in her community of Lawndale she always seem to attracted an interesting assortment of people. I will name quickly discuss the first three that pop in my head. Like her best friend Jane Lane. She is an artist, fellow pizza eater and sick sad world watcher.
Trent
Jane Lane’s older brother and founding member of the band Mystic Spiral (although he he thinking of changing the name) and Daria’s secret (but after a couple of seasons) not so secret crush.
Quinn Morgendorffer

Daria’s little sister and vice president’s of her schools fashion club. Her top three cares are herself, fashion and boys.
Daria you encourage a lot of teens that there is no shame in being smart, a bit goth and socially awkward.
You are a star in my book!
DARIA YOU ARE THE WO(MAN) OF THE MOMENT!!!

Artist’s Spotlight: @bunnyraunch
This week’s artist’s Spotlight is on @bunnyraunch
1. Describe you art aesthetic: “Soft, velvety, filth. The sublime beauty of the darker side of the mind. “Dreamsleaze”. The Velveteen rabbit reads a lot of Nietzsche after becoming real and falls in love with The Devil, along with every version of herself. I try to juxtapose all that is soft, warm, and vulnerable against harsh, painful, nightmarish and arguably abusive-looking scenarios as a way to express and enjoy that vulnerability in a visually, mentally and emotionally striking way. ”
2. Why bunnies?

If you go to the beginning of my Instagram feed, you will see the progression, in order. The first post is the first bunny I drew since I was a kid… and I didn’t want to burn it, I wanted to frame it. She looked so peaceful, her little bunny privates, vulgar as they may be, are soft and delicate and cute. Just already blissed-out, waiting. I didn’t use any references, I just drew and realized how easily stylized and expressive bunnies can be. They have their roots in cuteness and innocence and purity.
Her body is thick and soft and velvety and inviting, her limbs and ears are flexible and floppy and expressive. And I assume it’s obvious how much I enjoy drawing eyes. I look at her face and she either knows this is exactly what she wants, or is arriving at a profound realization about her situation. And I hope that comes across. I want you to identify with maybe not the situation, but the emotion of the piece…that’s the crux of it all. And he’s right, they’re fucking awesome. All the time I’ve spent in life drawing sessions and classes, all the money I’ve spent taking painting and drawing workshops from some of the finest contemporary artists in the world…this is what I use it for. But…I haven’t really seen anything else like it. There’s porn. There’s furries. There’s sweet, allegorical works of art of what life should be like, and then there’s this. A bunny held close and tenderly by a huge, beastly demon with his monstrous tongue buried in the very feminine cavity where her heart should be, fingering her entrails, as she holds her own heart well out of the way, gazing at at him as he devours her.”
