Artist’s Spotlight: Robert Jimenez
Hello this week Artist’s Spotlight is featuring Robert Jimenez
Describe a little bit about your artistic self:
“Comic books, trading cards, b-monster movies and the like have all combined to influence my art. Growing up in Brooklyn, I had easy access to corner newstands with walls of comics and trading cards. On TV, I regularly watched a combination of Abbott & Costello, along with schlocky horror and sci-fi movies which were also an influence. Later, the mystery of moonlit polynesian islands and Tikis were factored into my art.”

Are you currently working on something or have any events coming up?:
“I just wrapped up work on 9 gags and paintings for the upcoming trading card set WACKY PACKAGES GO TO THE MOVIES by Topps as well as my first Garbage Pail Kid, Gary Gravy, for Topps’ online cards. I’ll also recently finished working on a 2 page comic spread for an upcoming book on the lyrics of the band ELECTRIC FRANKENSTEIN. I’ll be at The HUKILAU, a Tiki event in Ft. Lauderdale in June!”

Do you have a website?:
“All my work can be seen at http://zerostreet.com/ I also have a separate site for just my Tiki art: http://tikitower.com/

What has inspired your last piece or collection?:
“John Carpenter’s THE THING was the inspiration for my portrait of Kurt Russell which is included in THE THING: ARTBOOK by Printed In Blood.”
If you like to contact the artist with any questions, look at more of his art or art purchases his IG is zerostreet

“What?! You haven’t seen ____ yet!?” Movies that I need to watch!
Hello everyone. There has been some movies on my to watch list since the dawn of time it seems because getting longer and longer with each passing day. So with the holiday season approaching I decided to make a quick top 5 of the hundreds (if not thousands) of movies from that list.
1.
I, Tonya- a dark comedy by Craig Gillepie about the 1994 attack of Nancy Kerrigan by hitman hired by Tonya Harding. I remember this story when I was little and for some reason E! television was completely engrossed in covering the details of this story and therefore so was I. I am interested to see how they turned this real life horror story into a laugh out loud holiday movie!
2.
Porky Pig is one of my favorite cartoon characters but I never watched the black and white cartoons of his. This is Porky Pig in his debut cartoons that bolted him into the memorable Looney Tunes character he is today!
3.
Strangers with Candy (TV series)- I have also seen Amy Sedaris roles on various movies and shows and I have always like her comedic style. So I made it a point to finish this year out by watching this show. Sedaris plays Jerri Blank a 46 year old runaway, and drug addict who decided to clean up her act and finish high school. Fun Fact about this show: The inspiration of Jerri Blank came from motivational speak Florine Fisher from a public service film (kinda like a scare straight tool) that was suppose derail kids from drugs and alcohol.
4.
Investigation Discovery is a pretty addicting channel so it is no surprise that when they started to make their own made for TV movies I got even more hook into their channel! This movie is based on Rodney Alcala who is a suspected serial killer on the West Coast and could be held accountable for over 130 murders between the years 1960-1970.
5.
The Beastmaster (1982)- directed by Don Coscarelli. It is about a man who has revenge on his mind because most of his family or people he considers to be family have been murdered. This movie seems reminiscent of Conan but I think Beastmaster and talk to animals so I am intrigued in learning more!
Until next time!

Movie of the day: Scrooged (1988)
Today’s movie of the day is Scrooged (1988) directed by Ricard Donner.

The movie stars Billy Murray, Karen Allen, Carol Kane and Bobcat Goldthwait. Murray portrays a mean, rude, jerk of a executive producer who only thinks of himself who gets a wake up called on Christmas eve night by three spirits.

Carol Kane, John Forsythe and David Johansen played the three spirits who bring a hilarious but vital message to Murray on the meaning of Christmas and just to reconnect to the man he was before evil and greed took over his mind and personality.

This has been one of my favorite Christmas movies since I was a kid. They always show this on UPN on Sundays (there was a block of time on Sundays afternoons were the channel just showed movies) in the summer for some reason. However it made me go into the Christmas spirit early. There are so many great cameos in this movie such as Robert Goulet, Robert Mitchum. Robert Stack, Lee Majors, and Buddy Hackett.
Fun fact about this movie: Robert Mitchum did not want to do the cameo in this movie at fist but when he met Bill Murrray and was so charmed by him he changed his mind and agree to do the film!
Until next time!

Coloring book Christmas…
I noticed when I was mentally preparing a Christmas wish list I noticed that a good majority of it was….coloring books! So if you guys are undecided on what to give this holiday season go retro, and be different! Give the gift of coloring book with a box of crayons. It’s a chance to let out stress when coloring and also a chance of being creative! Here’s some I have on my wish list:

Books I am currently reading..
Hello everyone! The holiday season is here and I know I have been mia for on here. So I thought I would do a quick post on my current reads.
This book is so absorbing because it is true life! It is about a mother and son relationship gone creepy and murder!

I just finished watching the limited series last month and it propelled me to read the book. I’m about 8 chapters in and it has so much more details where the series left off. The characters are fleshed out and a bit more human.
What is everyone reading this holiday season?
